What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is an amino sugar polymer found in connective tissues, like collagen. It maintains water in the inter-cellular spaces thereby providing functions like joint lubrication.

How does HA retain skin's youth?

Water is perhaps the most important component in the skin. It is an essential solvent for all metabolic processes and loss of water makes cells sag, leading to lines and wrinkles. Healthy skin contains high water content of around 20%. As we age, the skin loses its HA and collagen and moisture retention properties. Stress and environmental pollutants compound the drying effect, decreasing our skin's water content.

We can reduce these drying effects by injecting HA into our skin. Since HA draws water, it keeps the cells hydrated. ‘Fillers' are injections pump up the skin to make it supple and youthful looking.

How long does the results last?

The effects may last for over a year. Touch-ups and follow-up treatments are convenient and need only be at 6-8 months intervals.

Is it safe?

Yes it is. As HA is already naturally found in the skin, HA fillers are akin to supplements. Wen and Weng uses Juvaderm (FDA approved) and Esthelis (4th generation).
