What is the Pixel™ treatment?
The Pixel laser is an FDA approved, laser skin resurfacing (LSR)
technique used to restore the skin to a youthful appearance. The
technology is known as ablative fractional technology.
How does it work?
Skin is treated by removing tissue via a dot pixel hand-piece. Pixel™ technology
is performed as a localized or "scattered" ablation. The
Pixel™ treats a small fraction of the skin pixel by pixel,
in which the tiny pixelations of skin are lasered within the assigned
zone. This leaves the area outside of the affected area untouched.
The untouched skin then acts as a reservoir for the promotion of
rapid healing to the newly lasered skin, reducing downtime significantly.
What are the results?
Skin resurfacing occurs as the laser passes over the affected skin
to remove damaged outer layers (epidermis and upper dermis) and through
heat, triggers the body’s natural healing process by stimulating
the production of collagen and new skin cells in the underlying layers.
A new healthy skin tissue thus emerges.
The Pixel™ technology allows for a smoother, tighter, and
more improved skin texture after just several sessions, if not visible
in the first session. The technology has demonstrated a triggering
of biological responses that may lead to collagen remodeling which
is responsible for the smoothing of fine lines, wrinkles, improvement
of laxity and discoloration.
The Pixel™ technology has been shown to improve the appearance
of difficult to treat acne and keloid scars with just several treatments.
Pixel™ can be an alternative to Botox® due to improvements
which can be seen with tissue laxity around the mouth, eyelids, and
neck.
Improvements:
- Reduces acne or surgical scars
- Treats pigment related conditions
- Rejuvenates skin
- Smoothens wrinkles and fine lines
- Evens out skin tone and
- Smoothens skin texture
The Pixel™ laser is such a gentle treatment that it can
be used to treat areas once prohibitive by traditional resurfacing
procedures.
What can the Pixel™ do?
Primarily, the Pixel™ laser technology tightens up skin and
works with overall skin quality by manipulating with the collagen
fibers in the skin to stimulate cellular growth.
What can you expect from this treatment?
You may feel a slight tingling sensation after the treatment. You
may also experience a slight downtime with minimal swelling for a
day or two. As new skin replaces dead tissue, your skin will flake,
a sign that healing is underway. Your skin will look better immediately
and will steadily improve over the next four months.
What are the treatment areas?
Pixel™ can be used on most skin types anywhere on the body.
It can be performed on delicate skin areas like the face, neck, chest
and hands since it spares healthy tissue.
How long does it take?
Approximately 20 – 30 minutes per session
How often do you need to do it?
A series of 5 treatments, 2 to 4 weeks apart.
Does it hurt?
It is experienced by most patients as a comfortable procedure.
